Getting Started with Symplano
Everything you need to know to start organizing your family's schedule
Download and Sign Up
Download Symplano from Google Play, then create your account with your email address. Symplano is Android only for now. If you use an iPhone, join the waitlist on our homepage.
Add Your Children
Set up profiles for each of your children including their names, schools, and year groups. Symplano works out which events belong to which child using the details you have added in the app. This matching happens on our servers after the AI step. Your children's names are never shared with the AI.
Share School Messages
When you receive school emails, WhatsApp messages, or newsletters, simply share them with Symplano. Our AI will extract important dates and create reminders for you.
Invite Family Members
You can invite up to six people to your family. Everyone you invite sees the same family calendar, organised by child.
Common Questions
Quick answers to questions we hear most often
How does the AI understand school messages?
Symplano is designed to recognise the patterns common in UK school communications, phrases like "PE kit needed", "non-uniform day" and "parents evening", and pulls out the dates and requirements. The AI model does not train on your family's newsletters. When accuracy improvement is switched on, Symplano keeps a short redacted passage from any event you correct so it can stop repeating the same mistake. You can switch that off at any time in Settings.
Is my family's data secure?
Yes. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is role-based and least-privilege, and we monitor for issues. Newsletter text you share is kept for up to 48 hours and then deleted automatically. Your family calendar is private and only visible to people you invite.
Can I use Symplano for multiple children?
Yes. Symplano is built for families with more than one child. Events are organised by child, and you can give each child their own colour so the day is easy to read at a glance.
What if the AI gets something wrong?
You can always edit or delete any event Symplano creates. If accuracy improvement is switched on, your correction helps Symplano avoid the same mistake next time. You are always in control of your family's schedule.
How much does Symplano cost?
Symplano is free for everyone until 30 September 2026. After that it is £6.99 per month or £59.99 per year. A subscription covers one family of up to six people. The first 100 people to create a Symplano account keep a founders rate of £4.99 per month for as long as their subscription stays active. The founders rate applies to the monthly plan only.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, you can cancel at any time from Google Play. There are no long-term contracts and no cancellation fees. Everything you have put into Symplano stays yours: your calendar, your children and your events remain viewable and editable. What stops is the AI reading of new school messages.

Troubleshooting
Solutions to common technical issues
App won't sync between devices
• Make sure you're signed in with the same account on both devices
• Check your internet connection
• Try force-closing and reopening the app
• Ensure you have the latest version of the app installed
Not receiving notifications
• Check notification permissions in your phone's Settings app
• Make sure notifications are enabled in Symplano's settings
• Check if Do Not Disturb mode is turned on
• Try turning notifications off and on again in the app
AI not understanding messages
• Make sure the message contains clear dates and event information
• Try sharing the message again if it didn't process correctly
• You can manually create events if the AI misses something
• If you correct an event, Symplano uses that correction to improve future parsing when accuracy improvement is switched on.
Family member can't join
• Check that the invitation email hasn't gone to spam
• Make sure they're using the correct email address
• If an invitation has expired or has not arrived, cancel it first, then send a fresh one. Cancelling frees the space straight away.
• Ensure they have the Symplano app installed
